Ferran Torres scored a stunning hat trick within the first 30 minutes, leading Barcelona to a dominant 5-0 victory over Valencia and securing a spot in the Copa del Rey semi-finals on Thursday.
Torres found the net in the 3rd, 17th, and 30th minutes, setting the tone for Barcelona’s rout. Fermin Lopez added another in the 23rd minute, while Lamine Yamal sealed the win in the 59th minute. The victory comes less than two weeks after Barcelona’s 7-1 thrashing of Valencia in La Liga.
“We expected a tough match, but scoring early gave us an advantage,” said Torres, a former Valencia and Manchester City player. “As a fan, it’s painful to see Valencia struggle. I hope they overcome this tough phase and stay in La Liga.”
Valencia, currently second-bottom in La Liga and facing fan unrest over owner Peter Lim, continues to struggle. The club last reached the Copa del Rey final in 2021-22, where they lost to Real Betis.
